Mokveld strongly supports the reduction of the methane emissions

We can help to achieve the Zero Methane Emissions initiative of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI). This is in line with COP26 and supports the initiatives of the Methane Guiding Principles, the Global Methane Alliance and the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP).

In our earlier publications on our website we quantified methane emissions of valves from 2 sources based on publications by OGMP and international standards such as the IEC60079.

Valve stem leakage reaches 45 tons of CO₂ equivalent per valve per year in gas transport service as per example 5 of the IEC60079-10-1.
The OGMP document indicates stem leakage might even reach 184 tons of CO₂ equivalent, the emission factor can only be reduced to 18 tons after a detection and repair program.

Emissions from valves operated by (gas driven) positioners and pneumatic controllers can reach 22.950 Sm³ / valve per year according to OGMP. This is more than the yearly gas consumption of more than 13 families in the Netherlands (4 persons).

Both emission sources can be reduced to ZERO with the Zero emission valve.
Mokveld strongly supports the reduction of the emissions and subsequent impact on Global Warming.

Sustainability, reduction of GHG Scope 1, is a step closer with Mokveld’s Zero Emission Valve.
